Weekly Update

While I don't have anything to show off this week, I just want to check-in to give you a couple quick updates. There's been a lot going on this past week, and I'm super excited to share some of the news with you. Drum roll please......

First, the main reason I don't have anything to share is because I'm currently at the SNAP Blogging Conference in Salt Lake City. I am spending a long weekend surrounded by other amazing woman who are passionate about DIY, sewing, cooking, decorating, power tools...and of course, blogging! It's inspiring to be around so many creative woman and to hear so many stories about people creating a career around something they are truly passionate about. I know I'll return home with some great information to make this blog even better for you all to read!

Another exciting piece of news I want to share is that I am officially getting my own work space in Chicago! This means I get to eliminate my "commute" to Lake Geneva, WI every week and can finally have a proper studio in which to work. This also will give me more space, which means I can hold more inventory. Some of my biggest challenges I have faced to date deal with logistics. I have been slowly and inefficiently transporting furniture to WI, where I have space to work, refinish the pieces, then haul them back to Chicago where I ship them out. Needless to say, it hasn't been the most ideal situation, but I've made it work. With my new space, I feel like I'll be able to produce a lot more furniture and eliminate A LOT of driving.

Also, now that I have secured space in the city, I can start buying furniture in bulk. I got a jump start on this by attending my first auction this week. It was a pretty interesting evening. Besides the entertaining people watching (there were some lively characters there) and learning the ropes of auctioning (I'm still working on my Poker Face), I snagged some great pieces! I'll be showing them off in the upcoming weeks. There were over 800 lots, and I didn't get out of there until almost 11 pm. It was well worth it though, and a fun way to spend an evening.

That's all I've got for now. This week has been a big step forward and I'm super excited about the new opportunities that lie ahead of me. I've put in a lot of hard work to get to where I am now and I am anxious to see how Vintage Refined continues to evolve over the upcoming months ahead.
