Louis Blue Entryway Table

Louis Blue Entryway Table

It's been quite some time since I've done a furniture project for myself, but last week the opportunity struck, and I took advantage of it. We were up at the lake over a cold, rainy weekend which meant we were restricted to indoor activities. Kyle was suddenly motivated again to start a new home renovation project, so there was no way I was going to interfere with that! You know what they say, "Let a sleeping dog lie." So, that left me with finding my own rainy day project. That's when I decided to turn my attention to our entryway table.

Two Colors - Two Ways: Old Ochre & French Linen

Before I dive into my color lesson for the day, I want to take a quick minute to thank Remodelaholic. Several months ago I submitted an article to them sharing the details of our kitchen makeover (you can see my original post here). They responded back a couple weeks ago informing me they will be featuring the renovation project on their site. Woo-hoo! If you're not familiar with Remodelaholic, they have TONS of great ideas regarding home related topics, everything from minor home remedies to full-scale renovations Be sure to hop on over to check it out. Pretty cool stuff!

Ok, now onto a little bit of painting goodness. This past week I finished up two pieces using the same color scheme.

Old White Antique Cabinet

I'm not quite sure where the time has gone, but I realized it's been over two months since I've posted about a furniture makeover! I think I'm well overdue to share what I've been up to lately in my studio. Things have been busy over here to say the least. I officially outgrew my original space and spent last weekend moving into a larger space. Luckily I was able to recruit a crew of strong guys (the husband included) which made the move much more seamless. What would have taken me days was literally finished within a couple hours. Most importantly, Kyle was still able to make his tee time! The move was also a good opportunity to reassess my work area, reorganize, and reenergize. It feels great to have a fully functioning work area that is clean and organized. The challenge now is just to keep it this way! There are still improvements I want to make, but it's a big upgrade that I'm super excited about. So there you have it... my excuse for letting so much time go by without a furniture makeover!

Creative Pantry Solution For Small Spaces

Creative Pantry Solution For Small Spaces

While I have spent this past week working on some projects (but not actually finishing any) I thought it'd be a good opportunity to show off a project my sister just finished. You know how some people claim "they don't have a creative bone in their body"...well I'm pretty sure every bone...and muscle...and ligament of Emily's body is just oozing with creativity. Whether it's  painting, jewelry making, sewing, woodworking, or just general crafting, she does it! (Ok, maybe the woodworking is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the picture!)

Making it Personal

Making it Personal

When it comes to monogramming, people's tendencies are all over the board. There are those people whose goal in life is to stamp their initials onto every article of clothing, textile and home accessory, making sure there is no confusion whatsoever who the item belongs to (or that your middle name starts with an M). Then, there are those people who just plain don't get it. I think I fall somewhere in the middle (but probably more towards the first of the two groups). I'll admit, I'm a sucker for a classic monogrammed hand towel, and if there is a display of lettered coffee mugs at the store, you better believe I'm going to stop to see if they have an 'A'.  And c'mon, there really is nothing more innocent than some cute little kids running around in monogrammed smocks and Jon-Jon's. So, this week when I decided to make a custom chair for our bedroom, I couldn't resist the opportunity to personalize it with our initials.

How To: Dry Brushing Technique (and some major CUTENESS)

A couple weeks ago I showed you a French Provincial chest I just finished. That chest was actually a part of a full set I purchased. This past week I finished up the remaining pieces. After completing the chest, I was really digging my color choice and wasn't ready to put it to rest, so I ended up finishing the nightstands in the same color scheme. Here is a quick peak at how the nightstands turned out.

Two-Toned Color Washed Dresser

Two-Toned Color Washed Dresser

Happy Friday everyone! I'm sure you're all aware, and just as excited as I am (unless of course you have no interest in college basketball) that today isn't ANY Friday...It's MARCH MADNESS Friday! Today is hands down one of the Top 10 most fun days of the year. I just love the excitement of the non-stop games with the buzzer-beater upsets, the Cinderella stories, the bracket breakers. Mix all of that with the hint of Spring in the air and it's enough to make anyone want to dance a jig in the middle of the street (oh wait...St. Patty's Day is over). Anyways, you get my drift. But, we're not here to talk about basketball today (I'm sure Joe Lunardi has his own blog for that)...so let's talk furniture.
